Initially the practitioner will need to take details of your medical history and lifestyle. The you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie on the couch. The practitioner will then take your blood pressure, look at your tongue and examine the pulse quality on each wrist.

At this stage tiny needles will be inserted into special points, possibly around your feet and hands, these might cause a slight tingling sensation but will soon make you feel very calm and relaxed. If you are having facial treatment after the needles are removed other massage and heat treatments will be applied to your face. For standard acupuncture treatments needles are sometimes warmed by burning a herb called moxa on the needle. This is usually a very pleasant experience.

Generally the needles stay in place for approximately 20  minutes after which the practitioner will decide what further treatment you may need at this session. He may also discuss the future treatment plan he has in mind for you. After the treatment the patient usually feels very relaxed and comfortable.

We usually recommend 5-6 weekly acupuncture treatments followed by biweekly or monthly top up treatments depending on how your treatment has progressed and how your condition has improved. With FRA treatment an initial course of 10 weekly treatments is advised followed by a monthly top treatment .

This style of acupuncture is very safe and is not painfull. The needles used are of the highest quality and disposable, so no needle is used more than once. The practitioner must conform to the extremely high standards imposed by his membership of the British Acupuncture Council, which insists on the highest standards of hygiene and professionalism.
